My name is Matthew Derksen and I have the privilege of being one of the pastors at EAC. I started here in the fall of 2015 as the Student Ministries Pastor and then transitioned to the Associate Pastor in 2021. Before EAC I spent time at Capernwray Harbour, Gardom Lake Bible Camp, and Briercrest College and Seminary.
I love serving at EAC and have grown immensely over these last few years. It is my mission to raise up disciples of Jesus that have a strong personal relationship with Him and who will, in turn, disciple others. I love to meet with people to hear what God has been doing in their lives and help them discern what God is calling them towards.
In 2014 I was lucky enough to marry Janae, the most beautiful woman in the world! In my spare time, I love to play sports, especially hockey, soccer and golf, go on adventures with Janae, and game online with my friends. I also love to watch my favourite “soccer” (to the rest of the world “football”) teams Liverpool, West Ham, and Barcelona in their quest for silverware. I am very excited for the coming years and how God will use me to further His Kingdom here at EAC!
